What Is Upneeq?

Upneeq is a prescription eye drop that temporarily lifts the upper eyelid muscle to reduce the effects of droopy eyelids. Upneeq allows people with droopy eyelids to open their eyes wider and achieve a more youthful facial appearance.

How Does Upneeq Work?

When using Upneeq, you insert one drop of the liquid into each eye every day. Upneeq’s active ingredient is a 0.1% oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution, which causes the muscle in the upper eyelid to contract when inserted into the eye. That causes the eyelid to raise slightly, which allows the eye to open wider and counteracts the effects of the droopy eyelid. Upneeq is the first FDA-approved treatment for acquired ptosis.

Benefits of Upneeq

  • Lifts droopy eyelids
  • Gives the face a more youthful appearance
  • Improves vision impacted by droopy eyelids
  • Quick results
  • Safe, FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

One of the great things about Upneeq is that it requires virtually no recovery time. After taking the eye drops each day, you should wait at least 15 minutes before driving or operating heavy machinery. Other than that, you will be fine with going about your life as normal after taking Upneeq.

Am I a Candidate for Upneeq?

Men and women who would like to improve their droopy eyelids with a safe, non-surgical treatment may be ideal candidates for Upneeq. If you suffer from droopy eyelids and do not take any medications that may interfere with the treatment, then you could be a good candidate for Upneeq.
Because Upneeq can potentially affect blood pressure and amine metabolism, it could interfere with the following prescription medications:

  • Anti-hypertensive medications
  • Beta-blockers
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors
  • Cardiac glycosides

Before taking Upneeq, you should always disclose any health conditions and current medications to the doctor you are prescribing. You should also be aware that you will need to come into our office to purchase Upneeq.
