What Is Kybella?

An elegant, defined facial profile is a universally recognized symbol of beauty. Unfortunately, the effects of aging lead to the loss of youthful definition at the jawline. When you’re plagued by submental fullness or a double chin, it can take a toll on your self-esteem. Thanks to Kybella, you can reduce the appearance of a double chin to restore youthful definition to your jawline once more – without surgery. With the knowledge of our team here at Dr. Gabriel's Portland medical spa, the passion we have for our patients, and the drive we have for quality results, we will help your skin stand the test of time and feel better than it ever has at any age.

Until now, the only way to resolve a double chin was with treatments such as a facelift, neck lift, or liposuction. These options are effective in treating a double chin, but developments in advanced aesthetics have led to groundbreaking non-surgical treatment. Kybella is a revolutionary FDA-approved treatment for submental fullness. This injectable, non-invasive treatment can help to reduce a double chin and restore a lovely contour to the chin and jawline.

What Are the Benefits of Kybella?

Kybella works through the injection of deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally produced by our bodies that helps with the absorption of fat. When injected into the fatty area beneath your chin, it destroys the outer membrane of the fat cells, allowing them to be absorbed and carried away by your body’s own natural processes. Kybella works to:

  • Destroy fat cells beneath the chin
  • Restore the natural curves of your chin and jawline
  • Create a slimmer, more youthful facial profile
  • Restore your self-confidence

What Can I Expect During My Kybella Session?

Treatment with Kybella is quite similar to treatment with other cosmetic injectables such as BOTOX or Juvéderm. A topical anesthetic may be applied if desired while you rest comfortably during treatment. Once the area is numbed, Dr. Gabriel will administer a series of 20 to 30 injections under your chin with Kybella. It may be necessary to undergo several Kybella treatments to achieve the desired results. Treatments are usually administered at monthly intervals, two to four times in total.

Is There Any Recovery Time from Kybella?

Since Kybella is a non-invasive procedure, you may resume your normal activities as soon as your treatment has been completed. You may experience mild swelling, bruising, redness, or numbness at the treatment site. This is normal and should subside within a week of treatment. Most patients report that they feel comfortable returning to work or their normal daily routine after leaving our medspa following treatment with Kybella.

How Much Does Kybella Cost?

Like all procedures, cost for Kybella can vary depending on your vision for your chin and jawline and the quantity of the product needed for a custom treatment to remove excess fat beneath your chin. Meet with us in a private consultation and we can provide you with a custom quote to match your individual needs.

When Will I Notice Results from Kybella Treatment?

Like all procedures, results from Kybella can vary from patient to patient. As your body begins to sweep away the destroyed fat cells, you will begin to notice a reduction in the volume beneath your chin. You should be able to see your full results approximately four to six weeks following your procedure.
